An acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. Just about everyone has. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.

However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. This is very personal and its based on your body’s unique response to certain foods. Your advancement will mostly be by trial and error and not all by guidelines. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your skin. Write a journal. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your skin clears, stick to the diet that you were using at that time.

The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Up your intake of protein - Some dermatologists believe that protein is correlated with cleared skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. If you have oily skin, you know that it is very vulnerable to breakouts.

* Keep away from carbohydrates - Don’t cut yourself off completely. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. This is because compounds in carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why common knowledge says that junk food leads to acne. In reality junk food just has a high carb content.

* Consume green tea - Real green tea is the best, try to drink it The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Androgen is a hormone that can cause breakouts.

* Restrict your salt intake - Salt most always contains iodine. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” Iodine can be one of the biggest inflammatory agents in people with acne.

You must watch your diet and what you put on your face. If you have acne you are probably already more aware than most people of the ingredients in your beauty products. Natural and organic skin care lines are the best acne prone skin. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
