College supplies are things that many of us get excited over. If you are a parent, you may be more excited about the fact that your son or daughter is entering college. In this view, you may tend to spend unnecessarily on a lot college supplies that you could easily and cheaply get hold of.

This brief article will guide you through the dos and don ts of purchasing college supplies for your kids.
The first thing to be under consideration is the accommodation plan. If your kid will go in to dorm residencies, you will need to check the room before anything else can be bought in.

Mattress, bed sheets, pillow cases, insulation sheets for winter, quilts and blankets are the most commonly needed college supplies for college dorms. All these need to be bought only after seeing the size of the mattress or bed that is facilitated at the college dorm.

Basic first aid is another essential kind of college supply that you should get your kid. Remember that although it is a big step, not everything needs to be brand new. So if you can some college supplies at home, it is best to pack them up.

Books, cd s, calligraphy pen and various stationery, laundry supplies, umbrellas, alarm clock, calculators and so on are usually brought all the way from home. In case of a girl, of course, it must include beauty accessories as well such as washbag, hair flat irons, makeup bag, tweezers etc…. However, carrying a lot of goods across States is not advisable unless you are driving all the way. If you decide to fly over to college, it is best to buy college supplies from that particular State.

Many State showrooms will put up discounts for college supplies about three weeks after college starts. So if there are things that you don t need immediately, it is best to hold on for a few weeks until the bargains are on.

If you could get your kid a steamer trunk, provided it fits under his/her bed or somewhere in the dorm, this would be a fabulous solution against protecting important goods. Other important college supplies include proper furniture, for e.g. a study table, a coffee or end tables etc.

As far as the textbooks are concerned, you may want to look out for second hand books as the brand new textbooks will cost you a fortune.

Get Ready For College With The Basics

Say good bye to images of you in baby cribs, you are saying farewell to your baby years and entering adulthood. This can be an exciting and overwhelming time for you. In the midst of all this emotion, make sure you do not forget the essential things you will need when you start your college experience.

Before you pack up your car and head off to college you can skip the expensive king quilts you may be accustomed too. The bedding in college will be a lot smaller. Start out with making sure you have a working alarm clock. Yes, very simple but vital! You will need this often in order to get to class on time. You will not have your mom as an automatic snooze button anymore.

If you are opting for a cell phone, make sure you have the right plan. Choose a plan that takes into consideration how often you use the phone. Also consider long distance minutes as well. You do not want to get charged extra for calls you make home.

So instead of investing in expensive clothing, think about the purchase of a laptop computer. Granted, there are computer labs on most campuses, but having your own computer will make studying easier. It will also make studying more convenient.

When packing your clothing, make sure to include a bathrobe. This is essential because you will be traveling from your dorm room to the showers frequently. You will need something to help you cover up on your trips to and from the bathroom! A modest pair of pajamas will also come in handy as well.

In addition to a bathrobe and pajamas, add a pair of inexpensive flip-flops to the list. You will need these flip-flops to help protect your feet from the shower floor. Keep your feet away from the germs that are on these bathroom floors.

Invest in a small, waterproof basket to carry your belongings from your dorm room to the bathroom. These items may include liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner and other hygienic products. This will make your journeys from dorm to bathroom much easier.

You won’t need an expensive bedding collection, but you will need basic linens. Find out before you go out to college what size linens you will need. Make sure to bring enough blankets for warmth and pillows for comfort. Towels for the shower and hand towels are a must as well.

Are College Bands A Joke?

There do actually seem to be a lot of people out there that feel that if a band is created in mid to late teens that they are actually going to be a waste of time and a bit stupid, is this true?. Well I am not opinionated on this one because I for one am not in a band but I can play the recorder if you want a session of London’s Burning!. So you would think because of this I would be on the side of the people, well no I am on the bands because there have been fantastic bands such as Paramore that started off this way.

So what can you do to actually encourage people to get together and play music? Well of course you can and the first thing you need to do is get over to your headmaster or dean and request to have a battle of the bands evening. This will actually enable many opportunities for people out there and perhaps get them to feel what it might be like to play in front of a live audience. This is where you really get to see if people are serious about music too because they will turn up to play live.

The next step in noting if the band you are in has what it takes to actually get somewhere is your ability to play a live set. There is no one out there that wants to listen to someone that is rubbish on one of those guitars and I have been to my fair share of shows from bands that sound great on disc and just fail to do anything live.

So get practicing as many bands have been noticed for playing in things such as battle of the bands gigs on their bass guitarsand electric guitars.

So the next time you see a college band playing live why don’t you actually start taking them seriously?
