Toys That Make Bath Time Fun

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Its really hit and miss sometimes how smoothly bath times go with children. Kids don’t often enjoy being cleaned and unless bath time is made to be fun, they will make such a fuss you’ll regret putting them in the bath in the first place. There are some great bath toys that can supplement bathing perfectly and get everyone enjoying themselves, here are the best 3.

Rubber duck. Baths should come with a rubber duck in them as standard. Its not too hard to see why it is consistently the best selling bath toy in shops. Having a animal in the bath is always great fun for children and especially one that can squirt water and bop up to the surface time and again. They will go down so well with children that they will soon want a whole family.

Squirters.A lot of rubber ducks aren’t able to spurt water, which is a shame but their are plenty of alternatives out there like water guns. Kids love squirting water around and there is no better place to do it than in the bath, although you have to be careful they don’t get you. Its also a great method to get your child clean and its always a bit of fun getting squirted and they won’t object anywhere near as much as they do when you try and sponge them down. Just keep filling it up and soaking them down using it.

Sticky numbers. Playing in the bath is one thing but its not the only option. Kids learn best when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves so it’s good to have some learning toys or educational toys to use in the bath as well. There are a number of such toys that are suitable for water such as the box of shapes that teaches children how to select the right hole for individually shaped block. Those sticky number made from foam are definitely the best on the market though. These numbers are great for teaching math in a fun way and will also teach children the princibles of material density and friction.

Toys In School To Be More Fun

It is a known fact that after a government initiative five years ago, the selection of toys available to children in kindergarten and early schooling has become less fun orientated and more dominated by educational toys. There is nothing wrong with this in principle as we all want our children to learn to the best of their abilities, but recent reports have shown that the most recent educational toys may not be as beneficial to our kids learning as first thought.

A study by the Federal Education Department has found that children are engaging with toys a lot less in school and are finding other ways to spend their free time, often leading to disruptive behavior. This has been blamed by experts on the fact that toys have steadily moved away from being aids to fun and towards tools for education. The schools board spokesman Tim Penchant stated that in their opinion, “children should be able to relax and enjoy themselves in their break time and it should not be used as a continuation of their learning time”. He went on to say that bath toys and toy diggers should be reintroduced for use in the water pits and sand pits that most schools have available to them. Simple dolls houses have the potential to keep children entertained for hours and because they are social use toys (can be played with by more than one person) they help develop communication and interaction skills.

The goververnment have commented on the study results, saying that they will be looking to bring in more fun toys into school and getting the balance right. Their suggested action is to supply schools with a variety of different toy types so that kids can selected which ones they like and get out of them what they can.The parents of school children have also voiced their opinions and whilst many agree that their should be a happy medium in terms of choice of toys, others believe that their kids would get better benefit if they were learning (formal subjects) during their break time also

When Toys Were Toys

The evolution of toys over the last hundred years is truly staggering. Gone are the simple, handcrafted toys that lasted a good 10 years and in their place have come the technically advanced all-singing, all dancing gadgets that are lucky to survive for a couple of days in a child’s hands.  Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic old toys and why they were loved so much

Rag dolls. These toys are beautifully simplistic. Once upon a time every little girl had a rag doll and they would go everywhere the child went. The most useful feature was that you could wash them in some warm soapy water (providing your child would let you) and then they would be looking new again the next day when they had dried. These days Barbie and crying replica babies are all the rage. You shouldn’t really wash these with water but I’d like you to try it anyway.

Wooden bikes. Due to bike makers wanting to make the biggest profit they can, most bikes these days are constructed of metal or some form of plastic. There is no beating however a bike that has been loving crafted out of good hardwood. They were close to indestructible and looked great as the wood aged and picked up character. On top of this, having an old wooden bike a room added a lot of character to it and people even bought them just for their aesthetic value

Rocking horses
. Much like the wooden bike, a rocking horse made from fine wood not only looked stunning in any home but also lasted a lifetime due to its simple yet effective design. The best bit about a rocking horse however is that you can buy your daughter what she has always dreamed of,  without having to hire stables and muck it out every day. The art of rocking horse making has been all but lost sadly, although you can find some makers if you look hard enough.
